The whole story is fleshed out really well, with a tinge of magical realism mixed in. The character development is really done well, and I loved it so much.

On another note, what are you guys reading now? Do recommend me some good audio books, would love to check them out.

Also, I'm kinda not feeling this theme anymore since I'm in a complete different setting and the colors don't mesh well anymore. I'm open to theme suggestions, please feel free to drop some in the comments below.

Hey, besties.

I'm a little late, but this is my tour stop for Misfits in Love by S.K. Ali, organized by @hearourvoicestours , and a huge thanks to them and the publisher for the eArc.

Let me preface the review by saying that you *need* to read the first book (Saints and Misfits) to better understand what's happening and what's going on with the characters, and to connect more with them throughout.

This book took me through a roller coaster of emotions, all in the span of a week. Pretty fast-paced, though realistic, as if happening in our real world. The epitome of the ride being: Muhammad's and Janna's relation and their banter, and their love. That was truly to die for.

Also, *A BIG FAT MUSLIM WEDDING*! How awesome is that?! The environment setup was done wonderfully, and I must say it was pretty accurately described. I may not be Muslim myself, but I know many wonderful people who are (my BFF being one of them. Hi Sofia!), and I can say that Janna's inner dialogues and struggles were relatable and real. Them being described so effortlessly, yet being given so much importance, I was truly in awe of the writing style.

I was afraid it might lead to a big love triangle, but thankfully, it turned out to be much more than that - much deeper, and heartfelt issues were dealt with.

It deals with a lot of heavy and important issues as well, one of them being discrimination within the community, which was again dealt with heavily in the first book as well. I love how the struggle between Sarah and Muhammed was portrayed (and I must tell you, that struggle is real!) and how it began and where it led, I found it to be a satisfactory arc. This was an important discussion as well, I think equally as important as all the other topics dealt with throughout the book.

Hey there, bookish aliens! How's Monday treating you? Good, I hope. I've been caught up with office work for almost the whole month, but I still managed to read quite a considerable amount.

Also, it's 22nd June today, and I still can't believe it's been a freakishly awesome year that I've been a part of this community. I've made so many friends, found my perfect niche, and my comfort zone. I never knew there were so many otakus out there, nor did I know there were people as mad as me for Korean dramas and K-Pop, when I joined bookstagram.

I know I've been MIA for quite some time now, and I apologise for that. I missed this space so much.

Everything that's going on around us is very disturbing, and brutal. Every day we're losing a part of us, moving farther and farther away from being humane. It's very sad that something huge needs to happen to get these things to be noticed, things that have been going on for ages now. It's really very sad that it took so many innocent people's death to make people aware of the brutality on the black community. It's high time we understood the problem, and not only that, help eradicate it from the roots. It's time to be anti-racist, not just "non-racist". It's high time we give these people the justice they deserve, and it's high time we end this division.

And then there's this virus, and the lockdown. I feel like during this time, there have been so many disturbing incidents all around that it's truly bringing out the devil in us. Animal abuse, human brutality, just to name a few. I don't know what this world is coming to, and it makes me sad. And worried, about the future of our world.

In today's world, mental health isn't taken seriously. If anyone tries to open up regarding their mental health, they are ridiculed and that makes people bottle up everything and go down a dark path from where there may not be any return. To anyone who's reading this, please know you're not alone. You matter, your mental health matters. Reach out to people who will listen, seek out help, there are plenty of helpline numbers out there, and if no one would listen I WILL, always. I promise to make my space a safe place to everyone to come and be themselves, let themselves out however they want.

I know this is long, but I just wanted to say, there are people listening, please speak up. And there are people with you, don't feel left out. We're here. We're listening.

Before the end of the year, I read Ninth House with my @carpereadem buddies, and it left a lingering impression on me that's going to hover for a very long time on my consciousness. ⁣

This book is full of trigger warnings, so please look them up. ⁣
⁣
Leigh's writing always astounds me, I'm in absolute awe. The book is filled with so many twists and turns that it's impossible to see them coming till the moment they arrive. It was an unexpected tale of ghosts, men seeking mayhem-causing power, deep and dark secrets, secret societies, life and death, true power, power tombs, and of Galaxy "Alex" Stern and Daniel "Darlington" Arlington. You'll feel like you know them and their story, until you don't, and the whole world around you would come crashing down as you near the ending. ⁣

Can't wait for the sequel, I need it now. The ending had me begging for more, and I need answers pronto! ⁣
⁣
All in all, this was such an experience that I can't wait to continue on to discover what this dark, twisted world has in store for us. ⁣

It's a collection of motivational, and inspirational poems. These poems are all about your own self, how to be at ease within your own skin and how to accept yourself as you are. ⁣

Each poem has its own meaning, and will touch you deep within and leave you thinking, leave you wanting to indulge more in it. Its about everything you've faced and more, and written in such beautiful words that it is sure to leave an impact on your life.

If you needed some motivation or inspiration to move forward, grow, get up back again, this is your book. Even if you don't, this book is sure to change the way you see yourself. ⁣

The writing style is easily comprehensible, yet beautifully put together to give you an elegant effect. Even though some of the poems are in collaboration with other authors, you can't see any gaps in the writing. ⁣

Their paths cross when Jude, Sam's niece and Penny's roommate, takes her out for coffee at Sam's place. Soon after, she saves him, and they exchange number to be each other's "Emergency Contacts".⁣

But Fate takes a strange turn, as their Emergency Contacts become their secret keeper, their confidants, and things start getting complicated, or do they? ⁣

The story is written in alternating perspective, with mixed media sewn in as text message excerpts, to give it that extra boost of realistic day-to-day life. It's isn't love at first sight, it's more about discovering each other. The story has elaboraye character development, so much so they have left an everlasting impression on me. I could connect to them on a personal level, and understand the story, rather than just read it. Even the side characters were so well written that I could predict their reactions, could put myself in their shoes and feel every bit of it. This story will leave you in happy tears, with a huge happy feeling swelling in your chest, wanting for more and more. No one says "I love you" but you can feel it through the characters. ⁣
⁣
If you want something light hearted to read, that would lift up your spirits and something that you can relate to, as well, I would highly recommend you to pick this up. You won't regret it.
